We have an aging app that we would like to update. It currently consists of a VBasic front end, and Access database. Hoping to make it web based with the ability to use a phone for a portion of the process. This is used in a fundraising event we do for the community. We are a Rotary club hoping to improve the process.
It is a “Fanta-sea” fishing tournament. General idea is that you have a “license” that has a barcode on it, tying back to information in the DB, like prior fish, have you paid for, options, what is your name, etc….then “fish” for a fish with a barcode on it, and take it to the “weigh station”, there we scan your license then the fish. And the entry is entered in the database with all the other fisherman. Once committed to the DB the results board updates and displays the list of fisherman and their fish sizes. This happens for two rounds, with the largest aggregate winning….there is an optional third round, based on if the person paid extra or not, they can fish a third time throwing out the smallest fish and keeping the two largest.
We are hoping to make it possibly web based and allow the use of mobile devices to act as scanners, also allow the contestants to view results on their mobile and for data entry. We have the existing working software so would be able to demo and share pictures and discuss how it is used.
