Hello, I am cinematographer/video editor from Croatia with 5±years of experience. Most of my work Is music video related but I have experience in other fields aswell, i worked with one of the biggest Croatian discographers (Croatia records). I use -Davinci resolve -After effects -Final Cut Pro -Photoshop -Blender but I have knowledge in other softwares since I learned a lot of them before landing on ones that fit me the most. Hope this proposal stands out: First off, id like to say, its never easy to create a story with minimal gear. i think things that i would work on to improve: - Video format , currently its in square format 1080x0180, a lot of elements of the film are cut off and are unclear due to that, so my recommendation would be sticking with a 1920x1080 format to be able to best represent it. unless it wasn't filmed that way. - sound designing, particularly those moments of anticipation, knife on wall, tripping of the bottle with the foot, heart beats etc.. - Music choice, currently it sounds like a 70's horror film, however the way the film is shot does not complement the music, in other words modernizing it a bit more. - Audio quality, in the beginning the opening is quite lovely, however there is a-lot of noise distortion, so maybe a subtle clean up would help improve the way the opening is portrayed. Finally, creating a distinction between the opening and the first time we see our main character, the sound doesn't flow smoothly and the tension becomes abrupt. Overall i think what the film needs is a retouch in music, sound effects, shot choices and the format itself. hope we get to work together!

Hello I saw your clip posted and I would like to help you with some tips to improve it. I noticed that it is the first clip posted that is not filmed landscape, I like the idea. I liked the close ups used. I would recommend you to have a much more defined script even if it is a short film. I would add more suspense and clear frames, but I would leave the mystery of the negative character. It's a rule in cinema: “The gun rule”. If a gun appears in the movie regardless of the scene, the gun must be used by the end of the movie (gun shoot). Here I mean the knife used in your short film. On the edit side I can help you. I will change and correct the color, I would add more sound suspense, I would clean the sound and I would put subtitles. . I work in premiere pro but also in after efects so we could add other effects if you want to collaborate in the future. I'm willing to learn what I don't know and focus on the cinematography side. I would like to collaborate because you do a wonderful job as an actress but also as a director. You have potential. I have 2 shorts films I have edited that have won multiple awards each at film festivals. I use Premiere Pro and have been using it for 8yrs. Notes for your short-film 1) In the shot when the actress is ending the call, I think as the call was cut and the phone was being placed down, you could've shifted focus from the ornament to the actress on the bed, I feel that would help prepare the viewers to see who this mysterious person has been since the opening shot. 2) As the actress is taking out the items one by one, I feel some Over The Shoulders Shots would be good as she is going through the parcel and looking at the necklace(I think that's what it is) and the photo and then only when she takes out the note, a transition to a close up shot of her face is good so we see her reaction as she reads it. 3) After she crushes the note, it would be nice to get shot of it landing on the ground as well, with a possible slow-mo effect to try add intensity to that situation. 4) As she is packing her clothes, I feel the focus needed to be more on her and not the clothes and the shot needed to be wider so we see more of whats happening. Not too wide though. 5) Extreme close up on the second note so the viewers won't make out whats written so you'll lose the audience. Needed wider shot. 6) When the heartbeat starts, the shots needed to focus on the two actors and knife more than the environment. subtle but still very visible. Looking forward to your feedback.
