Create a royalty free application that SCANS an existing 8.5 X 11 document. Reads existing numbers from the fixed locations on the scanned image and then prints an OCR scan line (similar to the microcode on the bottom of a check to the same document) and QR barcode. (see [login to view URL] for free QR Code software) based on those numbers. Total numbers is less than 100 and locations less than 10. The choice of scanner and printer is up to the developer but prefer equipmeny made by Brother Uses either text setup file to describe numbers on page, location and how many total digits will be printed. Application should take less than 10 seconds per page. Software should operate on Microsoft XP or LINUX

Create a second royalty free application that SCANS an existing 8.5 X 11 document. Reads existing numbers from the scanned image and then verifies OCR scan line (similar to the microcode on the bottom of a check to the same document) and QR barcode. Creates a saved image file that can be reprinted or SEARCHABLE PDF file with a file name based on information in the image and if the OCR scan line and QR BARCODE verifY correctly. Application should take less than 5 seconds per page. The choice of scanner is up to the developer but prefer equipment made by Brother. A Check Digit (CDV) is a mathematical algorithm used to detect and prevent misreads of an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) scan line, present on most remittance coupons.

The CDV is usually a single digit character place at the leading edge, right most side, of the OCR scan line. The CDV is calculated/produced by taking the mathematical algorithm (MOD10) and applying it to the preceding set of characters that contain the actual posting information, i.e. Invoice Number, Account Number, Amount Due, etc. The summation/product of the MOD10 will be the CDV. The MOD10 is applied when the remittance coupon is printed and the CDV digit is printed at the end of the OCR scan line.

When the remittance coupon is scanned by the Lockbox Dept, it reads the printed OCR scan line, including the CDV digit. The Lockbox system will perform that same MOD10 mathematical algorithm and compare the system’s summation/product to the read CDV printed on the remittance coupon. If the results match, the payment is processed. If the results differ, the remittance coupon goes for Lockbox staff review.

EXAMPLE

 The Modulus value is 10 (MOD 10)
 The addition method is Sum of Digits
 The remainder is subtracted from the MOD10
 Weighted values use a 2:1 pattern
CALCULATION STEPS

Step 1 Apply the Weight pattern
OCR Scan Line Example 0 1 6 5 9 1 0 8 5 6
Weight Value Pattern 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1
         
Step 2 Multiple Weight by OCR Digit (0 x 2) (1x1) (6x2) (5x1) (9x2) (1x1) (0x2) (8x1) (5x2) (6x1)
Output 0 1 12 5 18 1 0 8 10 6
  (1+2)  (1+8)    (1+0) 
Sum of Digits (double digits) 0 1 3 5 9 1 0 8 1 6

Note: Sum of Values (double digits): If the result of the Multiplication is a 2 digit number, the two digits are added together to form a single digit

Step 3 Add the Digits ( 0 + 1 + 3 + 5 + 9 + 1 + 0 + 8 + 1 + 6 ) = 34

Step 4 Calculate Check Digit
Divide 10 into 34 (34 / 10) = 3.4 (remainder is 4)
Remainder Output 4
Subtract 4 from 10 (for MOD 10) ( 10 - 4) = 6
Check Digit (CDV) = 6
Step 5 Complete the OCR Scan line
