Short Program to Call Google Geocode & Places API

Program Logic Goal of program is to return a count of the number of places meeting specific criteria within a given radius around an address (example: restaurants within 1000 meters of 1800 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA) Read in addresses from [login to view URL] file • File is tab delimited with 10 columns and with the first row as a header: 1. Street – Street Address 2. City 3. State 4. Zip – Postal Code 5. Latitude – Blank, to be used in output format 6. Longitude – Blank, to be used in output format 7. Numplaces – Blank, to be used in output format 8. PlaceNames – Blank, to be used in output format 9. GeocodeURL – Base URL for call to Google’s geocode API 10. PlacesURL – Base URL for call to Google’s places API • Call the google geocode API using the GeocodeURL from the input file and retrieve the latitude and longitude for each address in the file • Call the google places API using the Places URL but replacing (in the code) the XXLATLONGXX with the Latitude and Longitude received for each address from the call to the Geocode API in the prior step • From the response to the places API call do two things: • Provide a count of the number of total locations that meet the request NOTE: the API returns up to 20 locations on a given request … if more than 20 match a next_page_token is returned to get the next page of results. This should be repeatedly called until all locations have been counted • Create a string of the location names concatenated together and separated by | • Create an identically formatted output file to the input file with the NumPlaces and PlaceNames fields filled in for all locations
