I need to replicate some statistics involving basic transformations/computation done for a previous study on a different set of countries. This is for a robustness check for a separate study, and I need it done relatively quickly. If you know how to work with patent (USPTO) data, I believe it should not take too much time (even if you have not worked with patents, they are not overly complicated to figure out if you're familiar with data analysis/database use). US patents are publicly available and downloadable from multiple sites, several of which are listed here: [login to view URL] . There are also two tables (GDP and exports) that require basic macroeconomic data from EIU or World Bank.
For all tables, I need to use the years 1980 - 2015. I need the raw .csv data to check for all patents, and ideally all output tables generated in LaTeX. For Tables 1-4, please use the countries listed below. Time frames should be adjusted to 1980-84...2010-14 (7 balanced periods of five-year intervals).
Armenia
Azerbaijan
Belarus
Estonia
Georgia
Kazakhstan
Kyrgyzstan
Latvia
Lithuania
Moldova
Tajikistan
Turkmenistan
Ukraine
Uzbekistan
China
Poland
Yugoslavia
Czech Republic
Slovakia
Slovenia
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Croatia
Macedonia
Montenegro
Serbia
Romania
Bulgaria
Hungary
Germany
Russia
Please replicate Table 5 with no changes required. Table 6 can be skipped. For Tables 7-9 using the chi-squared index (a relatively simple transformation), I need to use the same time intervals as above for Poland and the Soviet Union.
Prior to 1991, patents from former Soviet republics will probably be labelled "SU". If this is the case, please check if distinguishing by republic is possible based on address. If so, please use the following three countries or sets in lieu of SU: Russia, Baltic States (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia), and Ukraine. If it is not possible to distinguish, simply compute SU and Poland for patent recipients for 1980-84 and 1985-89. From 1990-94...2010-14, use the following sets: Poland, Baltic States (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia), Russia and Ukraine.
Finally, please calculate and output the top 50 patent holders for the same groups as above in a similar manner to Tables 11-16, but break the time periods into the following intervals: 1980-89, 1990-99, 2000-09. If the type of organization is apparent from the patenting information, please include this (and also replicate Table 10). But if not, that component isn't critical.
Hi,
I am a very experienced statistical programmer, with background in Economics & Quantitative Finance. I think I am the right person for this job.
Please contact me to discuss the details.
