We are looking to have an internal section on our website developed that would help us keep track of dimensions and information on a particular job. We measure & replace glass for a living in many apartment complexes, so when we go out we measure upwards of 30+ windows of all varying sizes, thickness, patterns, locations etc.
Everything would need to be tied into a mysql database that I'd let with with you on the details on columns, types, etc.. I'd be leaning towards PHP but I'd be open to suggestions if there were better ways.
We would need 3 separate types of logins with varying access:
- a "maintenance" user who would be the guy who works for the apartment complex. He'd login and type in the unit #'s and locations of the windows we needed to measure.
- an "estimator" user who would be one of my employees that would have access to see all those unit numbers, and then go in and add the dimensions, layout, etc.. all the details we need to make the window here
- an "admin" user who would essentially be me with access to everything above, along with reports. I would need to be able to go in and have a printout for different parts of the job which would all basically utilize that same data.
For instance one report would be for my fabrication team.. they need to know the sizes to cut the glass and a few other details, that's really it.
One report would be for me and my accountant so we can properly bill them out.. and so forth.

maitenence guy logs in and enters:
- unit #401, bedroom, upper window
- unit #516, kitchen, lower right window
- unit #112, living room, upper left window
my estimator drives out there, logs in, and then goes into those unit numbers and then adds the technical information for those windows that the maintenance guy doesn't need to see or have access to
- unit #401, bedroom, upper window, 40" x 32", 5/8" overall thickness, 1h 2v grid pattern, wraparound sash
- then the same for #516 & #112
I can now log in and generate a nice neat printout for my fabrication team downstairs so they can cut the glass and make these windows. I'd also like to find a way to have a page generated so I can print to a sheet of labels.
I'd also like to be able to have tracking for each window so when the glass is cut I check off "made up", and then when they are installed I check off "installed".
We can continuously develop and improve the product as time goes on.
