I've got a server with a GPU My problem is when transcoding files in ffmpeg it only use CPU and i think that it would be faster if i can get it run with my GPU. My operating system is ubuntu 16.04 and my frontend and backend system is built in laravel. You should have good knowledge in ubuntu, laravel and ffmpeg. Best regards Alexander

Short answer: you might use NVenc directly, it is pretty fast. If you need the HW acceleration through ffmpeg, you should compile it with h264_nvenc support. Perhaps I can give some assistance, but my test system is a Debian Stretch with i7-4770 CPU with no additional GPU.

Hello, The main question is: what is your graphics unit (graphics card)? Please post the details and I will check and compile ffmpeg with hwaccel support for it. Well i am a senior laravel developer nowadays mostly i used to ffmpeg a lot of version cropping scaling decreasing bit rate etc i can use gpu instead of cpu trough ffmpeg and it be faster than cpu
