Evil-Free World I Dream Hello, Respected Client, I have read complete details of the project. The answer to the selection of platform is simple. API can be integrated in wordpress. Custom websites need more work and more work in future to add new features even from email delivery to social sharing. Most money conscious clients go for opensource CMS. Though, woocommerce is itself a plugin so it's not a CMS. I don't know about the API yet. Would you like to share some details about the API? I am waiting for your reply. With that being said, I have also built several dozen custom themes and plugin in wordpress and I can convert it into any kind of portal as per need. Now, choosing the platform solely depends upon the API in focus. Woocommerce is merely an eCommerce extention for wordpress. It is used for selling stuff and it has all the required features built in for it. So in short I don't think its a good idea to build a website using woocommerce if you want the site to work through a third party API. Wordpress itself is a slightly different story. Wordpress was supposed to be a simple blog script but over the years it has evolved into a monster which can perform any thing on demand through its enormous collection of plugins. So if the API you want to use, is popular enough, chances are wordpress might have a plugin for it already. In that case, using wordpress as base is a wonderful idea. However, if there are no ready made plugins available for wordpress for the API you have in mind then I think there is no need to restrict the development to wordpress architecture. If you want every functionality to be handled through API itself then I would suggest using plain PHP or some framework like Laravel or Code ignitor etc is the best approach.
