Custom WordPress query for getting totals of each month from custom post type

I require a custom WordPress query. Here's what you need to know: 1) It needs to loop through all posts of a custom post type. 2) Each post has the following meta keys: the_total date_paid 3) The posts returned needs to be divided into months, with the total for each month. For example, if these are the posts (and respective meta values) in the database... Post name 01 the_total = 100 paid_date = 20-11-2016 Post name 02 the_total = 100 paid_date = 22-11-2016 Post name 03 the_total = 150 paid_date = 27-11-2016 Post name 04 the_total = 50 paid_date = 02-12-2016 Post name 05 the_total = 50 paid_date = 17-12-2016 ...then this is what I need returned: 350, 100 So what's going on here? As you can see the first 3 posts are in the month of November (11) and totals 350. Posts 04 and 05 are in December (12) and totals 100. 4) This is important: The number of posts queried must only be back to a certain numeric month. So for example, if the we want the month to be 7, then only query posts as far back as last July (because July is the 7th month). 5) If possible, in the same query repeat the exact same as above to also get the previous year, and also return the comma separated values. I'd like these comma separated values to be set as a variable so that I can use them in [login to view URL] EXPLANATION OF WHY [login to view URL] requires data like this for example... data: [125, 255, 550, 250, 500, 600, 1050, 1350, 1900] ...but you don't need to worry about that. All I need are the variables so that I can use them like this: data: [<?php echo $year1; ?>] and this... data: [<?php echo $year2; ?>] The goal here is to end up with this (see HTML file attached - which just has example data). You'll be given access to a WordPress instance and FTP access.
