I currently operate a website, but would like to integrate oscommerce so I could add products, track orders, etc. The hosting company provided me with cpanel, which will allow me to install oscommerce. While I can use oscommerce and even install it, I am not experienced enough to set it up the way I desire on the website. Therefore, here are the tasks I would like to be accomplished:
Use cpanel to setup oscommerce on website. When oscommerce is installed using cpanel, it places it beneath the index file. For example, if my home page is [login to view URL], oscommerce would be placed at [login to view URL] This leads me into my next goal.
Make the index page the oscommerce page. I'm not sure how this would be done. You may have to redirect it, I'm not sure. I would just like for [login to view URL] to be the oscommerce page ([login to view URL]).
The site will sell cigarettes, cigars, and related products such as humidors and ash trays. I know that there are a million sites online that sell cigarettes, and most of these sites also use oscommerce. This leads me into yet another goal.
Since most of the oscommerce sites look the same, I would like to disguise the typical oscommerce look. If you are familiar with oscommerce this should not be a difficult task. The design is up to you, my only request is that it is clean, simple, and professional. Additionally, I would like to use the colors of black, gold, white, and either maroon or red. You can create a couple of graphics to put on the site to make it look more professional than a typical oscommerce site.
*Note: If it is simple to disguise the look of oscommerce that will be great. If not, then I will have to make that another project in the future and simply request you try to implement the colors requested. For example, having a red/maroon header with white text.
Also, on the index page of oscommerce there is a heading that reads, "What's new in here" or something like that. I would like for that to be removed. But I would like to still allow members/users to be able to log into their account. This feature is included with oscommerce, but is just below the text i want deleted.
The admin area of oscommerce should be setup for one account that has full access and another account that has read-only access. Again, simple to do if you know what your doing.
I can provide all content to be placed on index page and rest of site if needed.
While I have included a long description, I am simply trying to be a detailed as possible. Overall this should be a quick project if you are familiar with oscommerce. Thanks!
