Develop a Dll ou Com that will:
- Send data to a parallel local printer
- Read the response from the printer.
For example, this is the PJL command to get the pagecounter. Most laser printers support it:
%-12345X(at)PJL
(at)PJL INFO PAGECOUNT
%-12345X
It is necessary to get the response from this command. In this case, it is an integer (the number of pages printed, of course)
What we do DO NOT want is to read bytes or pins (as with [login to view URL] or iodll) . The printer response to the commands (PJL,PS,NPAP) is desired. The dll must not know the commands, just send and receive a stream.
For example, using .net, its is possible to send the commands to the printer using the information in these articles:
<[login to view URL]>
but according to one of them:
"Note You cannot read data from a parallel port by calling the ReadFile function."
We know the hardware must support this (ECP port, bidirectional cable).
The source must be developed using MSVC (C or C++, 6 or 7)
We can provide more commands samples (PJL,PostScript,NPAP) for tests.
Obs: use the at simbol where you see (at) in the PJL command sample. The posting software thought I was posting an email address and blocked it ;-)
