Hi there,
We are setting up a dropship ecommerce site for polo and equestrian brands and we are looking for a company to do our product photography.
If you could help us with the following questions that would be great;
- We would be looking for 3 pictures of each product, what would be the cost of this?
- One of our key USP’s regarding product display is 360 degree imagery, therefore we would be looking for the first of the 3 images to be a 360 image, is this something you would be able to do and for what cost?
- Due to the varying size of brands that we are on boarding, the logistics regarding photograph may differ between each one. For example with the smaller brands that may have around 2-10 products of a relatively small size we would look to send these products to you. However if they have 10 plus products or products that are particularly problematic in size we are looking for someone to travel to the brands warehouse with a pop up studio and photograph their entire line – is this something you would be able to do and for what cost?
- If things go well, we are looking too consistently on board brands for the foreseeable future, growing from 10 to 300 plus which would mean a consistent relationship between us and a photography company. Would there be the possibility or arranging some sort of exclusivity agreement whereby all our work would go through you and in return we would receive some sort of bulk discount? The more work we do through you the cheaper it becomes?
- Being equestrian products, some of them are usually modelled on horses, but we would like them to be photographed in studio on some sort of invisible horse model, for example the bridles would be put on horses’ head which is then edited out of the photographs, saddle on a horses back and so on. Is this something that could accommodate for and would this incur any extra cost?
- With some of the products, they come in a lot of different colours, in this day and age do you still need to shoot every colour or is the product shot once with the colour added in at a later date?

First of all this bid must, by its nature, include a small degree of guesswork. I'll try to deal with each item in turn.
I have my own fully insured commercial studio in West Sussex, a surprisingly easy run to Newbury (M27 / M3 / A34), and a journey I have made many times.
I have a 360 rotator in my studio (2 minute turn) and can provide samples I have done for other clients. Please message me. On your own website you can load rotators in HMTL5. If you are also selling through, for example, Spotify, you'd need to buy their software.
I can bring a studio to Newbury.
In my own studio pack shots are charged by quantity on a sliding scale. The more I shoot in a session, the lower the per-item cost. Can we negotiate that one over chat please. For quantity I'll do a deal.
Off-site I charge by the session. Three hours on site (minimum charge) normally £230, then add £50 per hour. Ask me to do three days a month on site and it's £50 per hour across the board. Those are plus travel (27 pence per mile excluding the first thirty miles of the round trip.)
I've never seen a ghost horse mannequin, and no UK supplier I know lists one. I have contacts in the USA. I'll ask. It might be better to get a bespoke head-frame and a sturdy pole mounted horse back. Again I can research. I do have contacts in the country goods sales industry.

Hi Sam. Thanks for sharing this detailed brief. I’d be delighted to be commissioned for this project. Please see below my response to the questions raised;
On the cost of shooting a product, I charge £40 per hour and would typically set aside at least 4hr per session. This works out to £160 per session. The more I shoot in a session, the lower the per-item cost. A discount can be applied when there are more products.
360-degree imagery can be provided and may take longer processing times. What is the size of each product? It would be great to know, to determine if it’ll fit on turntables.
For shoots that require travel, my standard rate remains the same and only added cost would be travel cost which depends on the location.
If we develop an ongoing working relationship, I’d be happy to offer a considerable discount.
I believe the invisible horse model shoot is possible but would definitely be bespoke. I haven’t seen ghost mannequin for animals, however, we can discuss creative solutions around this.

I have responded to everything below:
- We would be looking for 3 pictures of each product, what would be the cost of this? - Dependant on quantities I would charge £10.00 per product for 3 images, if over 150 I would discount this and this includes all images to be taken, fully edited and sent as both high quality and website resolution.
- One of our key USP’s regarding product display is 360 degree imagery - I can do this, it would be an additional £5 for those products to have 360 degree imagery as there is a lot of work involved
- We are looking for someone to travel to the brands warehouse with a pop up studio and photograph their entire line – is this something you would be able to do and for what cost? - No problem, I am happy to do this I would just charge for my mileage (45p per mile) on top of the imagery charge
- Would there be the possibility of arranging some sort of exclusivity agreement - Yes happy to discuss this
- Being equestrian products, some of them are usually modelled on horses - I can do more complex edits like this at an additional £10/hour
- With some of the products, they come in a lot of different colours, - The best and most accurate way to show the different colours for this would be to photograph unless you have the exact colour codes I could photoshop however it can often look quite fake
