I need a Client / Server script that will do the following. Client to contact the server and query a MySql DB. Using the result of the query ie: yes/no to either enable or disable a service on the client. This needs to happen on a daily basis at a specific time. The port used to connect should be something obscure. There should be some type of authentication. Both systems will be running Centos 6. I need the ability to add services and checks as my needs grow. I need the client to fail to leave the service on if it cannot connect to the server for some unknown reason.

Hi, I can do it like this: the client connects automatically to the server via ssh (this provides both authentication and encryption) then queries the mysql server via ssh channels, and does what it should with the services. please contact me.

Hi, Quite interesting task. I thin i could try, but i would like to get more details: 1. What do you mean by saying "Client to contact the server and query a MySql DB"? Is it means that client will query mysql remotely, or you would like to connect to the server (through this "magic" new service) and then will query mysql locally? 2. "There should be some type of authentication." Why you do not want to use regular ssh? I do not think that someone will create more secure thing than ssh :) 3. "I need the ability to add services and checks as my needs grow." As i understood you are trying to create some central "orchestrator" were you just changing values for particular services, and clients connecting to the cetral point to check what they need to do. Am i right?
