I am looking for an Adobe Acrobat Pro X Professional to create a state-of-the-art Acrobat-based catalog, based on about 400 pages of existing content. The existing pages are already PDFs, but they need to be incorporated into a single application that can be used either on the desktop or on line.
The catalog is divided up into many categories and is becoming unmanageable. We're looking for a better way to handle finding content than one gigantic menu.
The new catalog will need to have the various bells and whistles -- e-mail, print, etc. But search is perhaps the most important feature. It must be able to search on keywords, on part numbers, or anything else the user types in, and the results returned by that search need to be meaningful and useful. By that, I mean the search results need to be on target...and there should be a way to click on the result and be taken directly to that page.
There are also two calculators and ten conversion calculators that we have already built and the code is already javascript. So, while it will need to be ported over, the bulk of the work in writing the functions has already been done. They are just going to have to have a PDF home of their own where users can interact.
Here's a link to the current on-line catalog. We are also producing a version in Flash AIR that's distributed on CD, but we need to get this to just one application that can work on line and on the desktop.

In addition, the application will need to be easily updated, as catalog pages are updated or new ones are added.
