I would setup system with transparent proxy service which intercepts and creates programmable events for certain HTTP/HTTPS traffic. Actual modifications could then be done with simple rule based regular expressions or rule-to-command based configurable system. This would allow configurable traffic recognition and modification for future use. Practically this could be done either with few unix scripts and services or custom unix daemon written in C++. C++ approach would be recommended way for heavy traffic.
