The Web Site "[login to view URL]" is currently a flat-file HTML site -- a template of the final site's intended look and feel. The time has come to take it to the next stage, but ideally keeping to the original color scheme, look and feel of the current "template" site.
Specifically, the new site will need several things as described below -- building these are what this project is all about.
1. An online configurator, to allow users to custom-build servers, specifying number of CPU cores, memory, storage, backup options, high availability options, type and amount of bandwidth, etc.
2. A shopping cart and online store, allowing customers to place orders, pay for them and begin a monthly billing cycle for service, as well as to make payments against overdue amounts.
3. A user account system where users can log in, check the status of their current servers, view bandwidth and other traffic reports, restart, shutdown, add or remove servers, storage, backup options, high availability options, etc., from their existing service plan. They should also be able to have a profile, and be able to change payment sources over time as their credit cards expire.
4. The system should automatically generate and e-mail PDF invoices / statements to customers at defined billing cycle dates.
5. A system that will auto-deploy pre-made OVR templates (which we will make and provide) across one or more (any number of) VMware or Proxmox Hosts based on the online user's specifications.
[I.e., if a customer chooses in the configurator that they need a virtual server with 8 cores, 16 GB of RAM, 100 Mbps of bandwidth, running CentOS 6.5 x64, one network interface, one IP address, etc., the moment the customer pays for the server, the system will automatically configure and deploy it for them on one of the available host servers in the datacenter.]
Once the above changes are complete, the finished website will effectively be a gateway where online users can rapidly and efficiently buy, deploy and manage any number of virtual servers, monitor their status / load / usage, control and modify them, submit DNS updates and requests, all with little or no interaction or involvement with the Hosting company's staff. The original color scheme / style / feel of the template web site will have been largely preserved.
Please respond only if you have strong experience with site-based automated deployment of virtual machines for VMware and/or Proxmox.
The finished site needs to be sharp, clean and function perfectly.

I looked at the specifications and at the website that you already have. To build the front end part based on your already existing design will not be a problem. Also doing the configurator and shopping cart will be pretty straight forward. I will need to know what type of payment methods you will want to accept.
Now, onto the really interesting part. I understand that you will want to offer your clients a loud based solution, where they select what they want and we will communicate with the internal API t o set the machine up for the client. We have experience with this. As far as I know there are no open source solutions for this and we will have to create something unique for your needs. This will take some time and resources. This is the hardest part of the whole system. Also it is very important if you want to use both vmware and proxmox or only one of them because this might double the dev time or not. Please let me know.
