Data Engineer for emerging weather business risk company

Overview: Our firm’s mission is to minimize the financial impact of weather on our clients’ businesses through data-driven risk products. We are a small but rapidly growing team, building a new generation of weather and business risk capabilities. We are looking for a Data Engineer with knowledge of data warehousing and experience with ETL tools to leverage state-of-the-art data and analytics to establish our platform. What You Will Do: • Develop APIs that will interface with insurance companies, clients and weather data sources • Help design and build a multidimensional data warehouse • Develop a proprietary weather derivatives structuring, pricing and auditing tool • Correlate large weather data sets to industry financial data to quantify associated risk • Build and maintain the core data model, data pipelines, core data metrics and data quality • Develop and build infrastructure in a cloud environment Preferred Qualifications: • Extensive experience with REST / API development • Experience with BigQuery • Data management / data analysis • Exposure to trading/knowledge of OTC derivatives (optional but useful) • Ability to work creatively and independently to a high standard of execution The firm is an early stage company with existing clients and rapidly growing sales in a market with high demand. We seek someone who will work initially as an independent contractor to help establish our platform, with future opportunities within the team. Contract rate of $50-70/hour based on experience.
