The author of nine published novels, I have other fifteen years editing, proof-reading, and ghost-writing experience. In that time, I have worked with all kinds of different writers - from first-time novelists to the far more established - writing in all kinds of different genres: literary, historical, YA, sci-fi, romance, fantasy, thriller, etc.
In terms of my working practices, I will edit your novel in three stages. Firstly, a basic edit to eradicate any typos, repetition of words or phrases, grammatical lapses, etc. Secondly, a more developmental edit focusing on the structure, character arcs, pacing, plot development, flow etc. And thirdly, a final read-through to ensure that your work has that essential professional polish. Naturally, I use Track Changes in Word.
My last editing project was for a YA fantasy novel set in an underwater, post-apocalyptic world - the author is currently querying agents (two or which have requested full manuscripts). In addition to my editorial services, I would be happy to give you advice on the publishing process - whether you want to go down the agent route, approach publishers direct, or self-publish - and help you draft an approach letter and synopsis.
I am available to start immediately and look forward to hearing from you.
