I have a good enough experience in writing poetry, stories, screenplays, essays etc. I am sure I can help you out.
I wrote a poetry based narration for a screenplay that was played in my college Drama Fest. It won best script. Here's an extract of the script I wrote:
"Life is but a melody in play,
frisking its notes about the journey we take,
Questioning its motives, we dare not say,
for what lies ahead, puts our actions at stake
...
And how long was this shine to last?
was it not but another illusion?
and so did man not learn from his past,
and gave in to his own confusion,"
Narrator: "For he did not know what there was to see,
he did not know his way back,
Had his madness been turned in to glee,
for white became his new black
...
bound to those mindless specks we so desire,
are they not but meaningless traits of life,
have not this ambiguity brought about the fire,
and so did he give in to this strife,
For he did not know what there was to see,
he did not know his way back,
Had his madness been turned in to glee,
for white became his new black"
