A freelance developer is required for an immediate start, and must be able to work from our Central London offices on a daily basis to undertake the following project:-
i. Further develop an existing application which has been written in Visual Basic using Microsoft Visual Studio and debugged using Integrated Development Environment (IDE) prior to an executable file being created. During beta testing data has been manually entered and transferred to a Data Logger which writes to both an Excel worksheet and an OPC Server prior to being consumed by the application. The beta testing has proved successful.
ii. Progress from beta testing to a live use of the application will involve automation of data transfer from another third party software application via a Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Service API which will facilitate pushing data in real time from tables within a SQL database to a Data Logger and OPC Server. This API will be created by the third party software company to the specification defined by the freelance developer. The detail required for the specification will include for example: how events are defined, the definition of the fields required for OPC Tags, parameters for exception and error handling, corrections i.e. checksum codes.
iii. Further development may be required to allow several iterations of the application to run simultaneously in a .NET environment
The coding for the application will be made available along with occasional telephone/Skype access to its developer who believes it may be necessary to review his code to achieve further refinement.
The developer should therefore have the following areas of expertise:-
1. Languages: SQL, Visual Basic and or C# or C++
2. Environments: .NET, Microsoft Visual Studio and Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
3. Integration: Defining API integrations using Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Service, Data Logger and Open Platform Communications (OPC) Server
4. A consultative approach, experience of re-working third party code, helping businesses to structure data solutions through systems integration.
Interested candidates should apply via [login to view URL], clearly stating their availability, skills, experience, and quoting their daily fee. A small selection of candidates will be invited to attend a face-to-face meeting in Central London where further details of this project may be discussed.
