defining my servers as DNS servers

I have a list of domain names and I want to define one of my servers to be primary dns server and my other server to be secondary. One server is iis5 or 6 and the other is iis7. The operating system is 2000 in one server and 2008 r2 on the other. Currently all dns issues are handled by the company that hosts our servers. The way it's going to be done: we'll talk on skype, I'll share my screen with you and you'll guide me through. I have already started doing the project, but with no success. We'll either fix what I did or do it all over again. The whole process shouldn't be more than an hour or 2. I would like to learn from the process, so I'll be asking questions. We'll speak english and we'll have to make sure we understand each other (accent - wise) before commencing. The milestone will be released after I see that all was done correctly and working (which usually takes 24-48 hours).
