Hello. I have done a few similar projects. SO, I'd like to ask some questions, most importantly; what/where are the image datasets? It is necessary to have a look before deciding on the exact method for this classification task. THIS project is essentially a classifier depending upon some training and testing datasets. The feature selection task is eminent. It is a well known problem but however please initiate a chat to discuss many other details. I found this project interesting and want to work on this project but I have few question. 1) Are you following any particular research paper or you are free to use different techniques as you desire?? 2) Do you have database already with you with sufficient number of samples? 3) In object recognition problem usually edges are obvious choice to be used as features. I am an image processing expert with 8+ years of experience across multiple domain within image processing. This problem can be approached as, segmenting the individual rice followed by classifying the individual rice using feature extraction and ANN based classification. The features that are under consideration would be simply feeding in the image pixels or extracting texture features. Feature like gabor texture can also be extracted. Following this, a AI based classification technique can be followed to classify the rice as faulty rice sample Hope the above explanation would suffice to perform your requirement.
