This project is to develop an online AJAX user tagging website (the focus will be on tagging). As a private project for myself (website will be open to public), I will run and administer the site. Tagging what? That will be disclosed to the winning bidder. Just picture it as an 'object'. The whole website will evolve around that object, and the main feature of the whole website is tagging of the object. Ajax enhancement is required wherever possible. The website will incorporate the usual techniques of an "Web 2.0" site; javascript, PHP, CSS, XHTML, AJAX(!), and database - xml(?), MySQL(?). The latter is for the coder to choose. The bidder is welcome to bid for parts of the project. The website must be based on PHP, Linux, Apache, and similar (i.e. no ASP, IIS, IE, Frontpage). Must work in most browsers, but if in doubt Firefox is to be preferred. Bid should include (design), development, deployment. However, you're welcome to bid for PARTS of the project. The higher priority items are the most important. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment or be accompanied by thourough installing instrucions, and website must be "live", i.e. running error-free on the server. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). --------------------------------------------------- **About the project** Vibrant look and feel is crucial for this project. Speed and responsiveness are also key. I am looking for quality work. User must preferrably have references or give examples of previous work. (I am not unfamiliar with AJAX, so to winning bidder must be better than me!). The ideal candidate would also have rock solid design aesthetic for designing the whole graphics/color/font-scheme. I have a couple of websites that are technically very much along the lines of what I am looking for to the winning bidder, but just go on any web2.0 tagging site, and you get the picture. Don't be put off by 'vague' description here. I have very concrete plans for how to design the site. Design is optional, but if you have something I cannot resist... Code must be well-documented for making later additions easy. The pages should be made up of 'blocks' for easy addition or removal of 'blocks'. Style and design of site must be as much as possible in CSS, to change the layout of site easily. I see the work progressing through major functionality milestones. For each milestone, a high-level design should be presented and approved by me before full implementation and delivery of the functionality. We will work out a progress plan, and carve out some (3?) milestones by sound logic. Preferably, the coder(s) will keep in touch with me on a regular basis via Google chat, MSN, email or anything else for a tight collaboration. I don't want the project to drift off too much from what I have in mind, and thus frequent 'head-butting' is wanted. A bit more information (in approximate order of priority): **Viewing/Browsing site (main part, also frontpage): *important*** * * Will be presented with web2.0 tag-cloud (crucial part) * * Can search dynamically by typing (tags matching typing will appear) or by clicking * * Can search different fields of information about the object * - This is all done by the same search field, but presented in different 'tables'/fields * * User will see last visited items * - The same goes for unregistered users * * Unregistered users will be recognized from last time ("recently viewed" etc.) * * Frontpage will have RSS/shortnews from other, related websites on frontpage * - user can configure feeds to his likings * * When browsing, the user will see "User that clicked this 'object' also clikced these "+list_items(7) * * Top list (most popular/most clicked) * * Recent additions * * When viewing 'object', several other related-lists will be presented * * Unregistered users will be recognized from last time ("recently viewed" etc.) * **Entering new object in database (for registered users): *important*** * * Site will automatically suggest (ajax from other websites) item to enter * * User can accept suggesion or enter his own object * - If accepting suggestion, object-information will be populated with information from other websites (ajax) * * Enter tags for this object (repetitive process) * - Site suggest tags already in database, or user can enter his own tags * * Each user should be able to post a comment on the 'object' (can be switched off by admin) * **Database: *important*** * * Can be xml or MySQL or whatever the coder deems as a good solution, but must keep in mind to design for easy export to for example MySQL later, in case database grows out of hand * * Object information will be described in detail later * **Registration of users: *important*** * * Free user registration (a hasslefree as possible) * * User log-in * * User will be automatically logged in when revisiting (cookies?) * * Password retrieval * * View account information * * View site usage statistics * * User will have an small rss-reader incorporated in website, with a few well-known sites preconfigured * - User can enter his own preferred feeds * **Small social networking:** * * Each user has a “friends?? list * * Registered user may search for “friends?? * * Registered users may add friends * * Registered users may delete friends from their list * * Must have a means of communicating with each other (PM, commenting, or other) * * ...open to suggestions * **For administrators:** * * View account information * * Administer tags (delete, add, rename, etc) * * View friend lists * * View site usage statistics * * Give administrator the option to get notified (via email) when * * Administer can add 'informational fields' from other sites to each object. Users can then click 'read more' to be redirected. * **General website information:** * * About the site (what is it, objectives) (empty template - to be filled in by me later) * * How it works (empty template - to be filled in by me later) * * 3 big fields at the bottom of page - 1. "bugs - report here" 2. "suggestions - report here" 3. "anything else? - report here" These will send email to different email-adresses * **Design** * * The layout should be easy configurable by CSS * * Changing CSS should accordingly change the layout of site * * The winning bidder will ideally have a stylish less-is-more layout for this site. * Keywords for design - Clean, no-frills, think of Google frontpage, white space, not too many colours * A general requirement is to 'hide' as much of the code as possible, to make the site less prone to hacking. That is, I don't want the whole site in only javascript. 1Don't be put off by architecture design plans for this site. I am a reasonable guy, so I am open to critisism and suggestions. I want this site to be as good as possible! And remember - you can bid for parts of the site as well. ## Platform PHP, Apache, Linux, MySQL(?), XML(?), Firefox and IE, Ajax, RoR(?)
