I am looking for a backup system that will automatically tar a folder on a SCO unix system, and then automatically FTP that to a windows server (which has a spanky brand new LTO backup system on it!).
## Deliverables
It should:
1) Create a new file each day, with the date in the filename.
2) Keep a weeks worth of backups on a daily basis (mon-sat)
3) Send an eMail to our exchange server notifying when a backup starts and completes.
4) Run without any user input, at midnight each day.
5) It may also need to close a running program, and re-open it.
The application being backed up, is a POS (In both senses of the acronym) package called 3ex, made by Exact Abacus Ltd. The server is a Poweredge 1850 with a pair of 73gb drives in raid1, and we're dealing with approx 18gb of data that's growing slowly. The servers will (when this gets in place) be on a gigabit network.
I'm basically trying to take user input out of the equation, as the Windows servers (my forté) will talk to the autoloader, and the SCO box will just backup to the Windows ones. Simpler than me working out how to deal with an autoloader or lto drives or anything like that on the SCO box, which as it's probably got a limited lifespan (2-3 years MAX! due to a new version in .net that's in the works)

Thanks to all for your bids, I'm still waiting on Dell to deliver the new hardware currently, so am holding off on making a decision until it's all in. Starting to get a tad annoyed with them considering they keep slipping my delivery date! Will update when I have more info. Alex.

Appologies to all who made bids on this project, but I'm now close to making a decision on this as over Christmas we've installed the new servers and setup the backup tape system on them. If you've made a bid, can you indicate if you're still interested, and hopefully I'll get some management sign-off by the middle of the month.
