I need to know everything about the structure of this .dat file. I'll need a COMPLETE breakdown of the structure.
Once I have the structure down, I'll contract out for the program I need, which will have to read from the data in this file.
I have included the file [login to view URL] (its a demo file so many appointments are going to show as missed) and some screen shots. The screen shots contain data about patients and appointments for 12/05/06. This should aid in figuring out the structure.
Heres what I have figured out so far. I am about 90% positive of the following.
It is a binary file, created with VB.
1. fixed length
2. 150 byte record width
3. Top record appears to be a header record, so the data begins on second line.
4. Date fields are not 00/00/00 they are long numbers-integer equivalent.
Probable fields are: (see the screenshots)
Patient Name (could be first/last or whole name)
Account (number)
Date
Time
Doctor (1 or 2 digit number)
Type (user defined code for appointment type)
Minutes (number field)
Appointment status (kept, walk-in, in office, future, missed, cancelled, rescheduled, memo)
home (phone number field)
work (phone number field)
cell (phone number field)
Pager (phone number field)
email (phone number field)
## Deliverables
1) Complete documentation regarding all aspects of the structure of appt.dat. This documentation will be used by a programmer to read (and write) to [login to view URL]

Revised probable fields.
Patient Name (could be first/last or whole name)
Account (number)
Date
Time
Doctor (1 or 2 digit number)
Type (user defined code for appointment type)
Minutes (number field)
Appointment status (kept, walk-in, in office, future, missed, cancelled, rescheduled, memo)
I'm sure all the above fields exist in the [login to view URL] file.
I'm not sure, but assume the phone number and email fields listed below are present also.
home (phone number field)
work (phone number field)
cell (phone number field)
Pager (phone number field)
email (phone number field)
## Platform
Any plain text, word document or excel file would be fine.
