Hello all,
I would like a function written in Visual Basic .NET (any version) that, given a string of text and keywords, returns an HTML-formatted string? that mimics what? Google or Yahoo would return for the description in their search engine.
So, for example,? suppose that the text were that from Gmail's intro page:
A Google approach to email.? Gmail is a new kind of webmail, built on the idea that email can be more intuitive, efficient, and useful. And maybe even fun. After all, Gmail has:? Less spam Keep unwanted messages out of your inbox with Google's innovative technology.
Calling the VB function SearchSummary(Text, "Google")? should give? roughly the same result as Google's engine would give on the same search:
A **Google** approach to email. Gmail is a new kind of webmail, ... Keep unwanted messages out of your inbox with **Google's** innovative technology.
** EDIT: I just realized there might be? some ambiguity with regards to the specifications. I want a function that given any size document, will find the? first matching keywords and output a truncated version of the document like Google's search engine. So, as another example, given the search phrase "sun? microsystems java implementation" and the? page text of? <[login to view URL]>, I'd like the function to return something like:
**Java** technology is a portfolio of products that are based on the power of networks and the **...** Copyright **Sun Microsystems**, Inc. A **Sun** Developer Network Site **...
**
Which is what Google returns.
Sorry for any confusion!
?
## Deliverables
Please remember that I would like? the VB .NET function to return the summarized string with the <b> and? </b> tags around the appropriate words.
