Hi, I've done extensive Access database development for the investment banking industry and recent projects that amount to first class applications - in fact one is being distributed nationwide as a standalone application. The reason I mention this is because Access is essentially a 100% stable platform - if you're experiencing reliability issues then there are multitude of aspects of your database DESIGN that likely need updating (especially if it's been sometime since it was last reviewed). That is to say that you don't need the expense and commitment of an entirely new development on a different platform (new builds from scratch often escalate in cost as well). I genuinely think that a full review and upgrade of your database, both functionally and its user interface (please visit the portfolio section of my profile for examples of modern user interfaces), and hosting it on Microsoft Sharepoint so it can be used on the web (without your own server), would be the most advantageous way to go - you'll definitely get the biggest return and greater stability compared to porting the entire thing to a different backend database and frontend interface (which will have their own reliability issues). Hi PHP expert here, with experience in VB programming and MS Access. I have plenty of experience in inventory managament and invoicing applications, which will certainly add value to this project. I suggest to do this as a PHP web application, with MySQL as back end. This can be hosted on a webserver and access over internet, or can be hosted on a local server/PC and access only in the local network or only on one PC. I would like to have a look at your access database file to understand the size of the project. Basically I would like to know the number of forms and reports you have created in access.
