We're launching a new, simple, humorous web site to display Twitter tweets nominated for inclusion in our site via Twitter/by Twitter users.
We need a webmaster/database coding to get it working. You need to know either MoveableType or Wordpress inside and out. We've already set up a test site with Moveabletype - although we could switch to Wordpress. You tell us what you would prefer to work with.
You need to be adept at using plugins to ingest RSS (or output via Twitter API) and doing some simple filtering/parsing/output with a database.
The site will do this:
- Collect/aggregate a group of Twitter tweets. These will be "nominated" to our service via RT and a unique #hashtag.
- These nominated tweets may then be ingested into our web site via RSS on a search of the unique #hashtag.
- Display a live, continuously updated Ajaxy scroll of new "nominations" as they come in.
- MAYBE/AND - aggregate/repost each tweet as a unique post on the blog - with user ratings to vote on the "best")
- Parse information from each tweet into a database (author, link, maybe timestamp) from each tweet for a database to track over time the sources of the tweets.
4. Display on the web site the most popular authors ... today, this week, this month, this year, since 2009
## Deliverables
This will be a clean, simple and fun window into "stupid" Twitter posts (we'll use a different expression). Integration with Twitter will go both ways - nominations tagged/searched/output from twitter to this site - and also then the site's content spit back out to a Twitter account. This is mostly about pulling together the right plugins (or using right third party tools for the output back to Twitter); AND, bigger coding challenge is parsing the database.
