What I need done:
I need a web application that will be used to as a combination CRM / customer self service portal. The app will have a few different types of users. Upon login, each user type gets a different view, and can perform different functions. Typical things all users will be able to do: read news articles aggregated from industry specific RSS feeds, view and/or edit their own 'profiles', review information on other companies in their 'partner network', review information about and published by companies whose products they sell (brand owners), create and receive private messages to/from other users, etc.
While this is a brand-new site, however a preliminary database schema exists and we have some ideas as to desired layout and page flow.
Also, the implementation technology should be something that is supportable in a shared server environment by a good number of commodity-level hosting companies (e.g. PHP). Design and feel should bridge between a forum/community site and a true purpose built application.
