I greatly desire some kind - any kind! - of concurrency support for my JavaScript programming game at [login to view URL]
I have designed and implemented all of [login to view URL] by myself, so I hope you can see I'm not a total stranger to software development! I simply don't have the free time I used to and so I'm willing to pay for someone to work on the project in my place.
As you can see under "Robot scripting notes" at <[login to view URL]> , one showstopping bug is that the robot scripts do not operate concurrently. I really feel that they should be concurrent in order for the game to be a fair challenge (and to enable tournaments and competitions etc).
I want you to take the current source code (minus the fancy HTML5 graphics!) at <[login to view URL]> and "put" concurrency of robot scripts into the mix. You may or may not need to rewrite the thing entirely.
I will leave the implementation details and the choice of technologies up to you (but please let me know before you start!). I'm keen on it being HTML5 web standards and working in pretty much every browser. I don't want the current user interface to change too much.
Some possible technologies you might use to solve this problem include:
[] HTML5 Web Sockets (I don't know too much about these)
[] HTML5 Web Workers (I know a bit about these)
[] NodeJS on the server side (I know a bit about this)
I am looking for a savvy, capable and sensible developer who thinks they can really grab this task by the horns and "just do it"! Of course, as a developer myself we'll have some good communication going on too! Some relevant samples / websites might sweeten the deal.
PS. I'm also interested in the game having *networked* multiplay. If you have any ideas about this - or think you can solve this problem at the same time too - please let me know and I can do a bonus or separate, private job etc.
