I have a website at [login to view URL] The site work as follows Users press bid button to place a bid on an auction, each time the bid button is pressed the price increases by 5p & time left on the clock increases by a maximum of 15 seconds. Their username is then entered as the highest bidder if no other bids are received before the clock reaches zero they are the winner. The information on the pages is updated by an ajax file that currently reloads approximately 80 times a minute. The ajax file contains all the information for the auctions in that period. The current system utilises too much of the cpu on the server, and so I need the ajax files redesigning. The new ajax file should reload every second and be optimised so the file is as small as possible. Take a look at [login to view URL] & look at their ajax file which is always 0.8kb large and uses a code e.g. "cw=username" cw means current winner I need it a new system designed to utilise cache. 2 test accounts that you can use to log into the website which are username: testuser password: test username: testuser2 password: test Please look at [login to view URL] to see how the system should be. Please get back to me with any questions. -- Other additions & points When a new bid is placed on an auction the background of the auction price lights up in red. I would like a better effect exactly the same as on swoopo where the red colour fades in and out. Countdown timer to appear in red when the clock reaches the last ten seconds. Three pages on the site where the ajax files need redesigning 1 Index page 2 Click 'auctions' on the menu and they are displayed in a different format. 3 Auction details displays the auction information. 2 files are used here, the normal AJAX file displaying the information & another that displays the last 5 bidders of the auction & any bids the user has placed on the auction.
