DICOM image management

I am interested in developing an image/data management application that acts as <or as an interface for> a DICOM server. This is NOT the actual project but a solicitation of clarification about the project. My objective is to find out exactly what I should be asking for and what I can expect. I don't know what the options or details are yet. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated. If the cost estimates are reasonable enough we can probably do it. I am being approached by many companies marketing their own versions of the same software but I am investigating the possibility of having it coded ourselves and customized. Currently, we are using HP ultrasound images stored on video tape. We would have to upgrade the systems to publish in DICOM format, but I think HP's dicom is proprietary (go figure). One component of the project may involve image/data capture from the pure s-video & audio output of the system. The trick I think would be pulling and parsing the report & measurement data. Ideally we would like any system to be able to be able to interact with dicom images from radiology/nuclear as well. Please feel free to post your honest opinions or advice; it will all be greatly appreciated. If there are multiple responses that are found to be very helpful, additional "bonus" payments may be made to those coders so that all relevant contributors may be compensated for their time and advice and not just one. Thanks in advance for your input. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform various (windows/linux)
