Construct a model for function fitting(repost)

I have a C program that was being developed by a programmer who recently lef the field. This C module fitting a function using optimization (Levenberg-Marquardt non-linear least squares algorithms), basically returns a model's RMS error value compared to the experimental data. It is a part of a Python project and it is running, but it does not fit well.

I am looking for an experienced C algorithm developer with some mathematical understanding who can work the model out, and fix the errors, bugs, if there are any.

The bidding will include:

1) Extraction of the model function.

2) Modification of the model, if necessary.

3) Debugging, testing and recompilation. I will provide you with testing/debugging codes. The test script is written in Python and some changes might be necessary in the script.

4) Visualization of output functions. The testing/debugging codes are written in a format which is compatible with both Matlab and Python, so plots can be made using either Matlab or Python's matplotlib or other programs that you are comfortable with.

Basically I want to make sure that this C module works as it should. I'm under severe time constraint, please bid if you think you can start working right away.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
