Change DirectDraw7 App to OpenGL

A few years ago, using DirectDraw7 tutorials from the internet, we created a game in C++. It's now 2004 and DirectDraw is useless for our purposes. What we want from you is that you convert this sprite rendering engine to using **OpenGL** for cross-platform porting purposes. The sprites are 2D but we want to load the bitmaps as textures on quads and animate them. While the entire project workspace is [url removed, login to view] in size, only a few of the files handle the Sprite engine.

What we used back then was a standard method of drawing the sprites in DirectDraw7. If you used this method in the past and are good with OpenGL now, this is for you.

_How it works now_:

By following a "How to create a .Pak file" tutorial, we created a Pak file format containing our bitmaps. Our sprite engine reads the bitmaps from the pak files, and draws the animation frame by frame. There are different layers in the animation, so transparency is used. Our Pak files also contain the coordinates of where each sprite must be drawn.

_How we want you to change it:

_

The entire .pak file process for storing the bitmaps will continue the same. However, instead of using DirectDraw for the animation, and sprite rendering (this includes the interface) you will use **OpenGL**. GLUT and/or SDL are optional for static sprites such as menus but the sprite animation must be OpenGL. We are also using the free CXimage library for transparency effects. You will not need it in OpenGL. Also, you must change the current sprite collision system for OpenGL.

**All DirectDraw must be changed to OpenGL.**

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

## Platform

It MUST RUN ON Windows XP SP2, although Mac OS X is also accepted. The entire point of going to OpenGL is for cross-platforming.

**WE WILL BE PORTING THIS GAME TO MAC OS X IN THE FUTURE.** Please code with that in mind.
