Automatic Video Based Surveillance System for Abnormal Behavior Detection Description -The system would perform dual functionality: 1. Detect abandoned objects (COMPLETED) 2. Track abnormal human behaviours - The video cameras attached to the system are assumed to be fixed. Each camera would be monitoring a specified area for abandoned objects as well as behaviour of the human beings - Ideally both these functionalities needs to be performed simultaneously - Tracking abnormal human behaviour would just involve tracking the time period(T) taken by the person to move from one end of the monitored area to the other. This time period 'T' would be compared against a threshold time period 'Th', where 'Th' is the maximum time required (as a worst-case scenario) to move from one end of the monitored area to the other. One exceptional condition to be considered here is that, the person may turn back and return. This can be taken care of, by maintaining an adequately large value for 'Th'. Secondly if the person is found to be performing any of the abnormal activities listed below, the system must detect it: 1. Jumping 2. Bending down 3. Lying/kneeling down
