A Web App for creating, consuming, sharing and rating annotated song content, with minimal social features

Annotated song content: A timeline of musical chords that correspond directly to a youtube video. Users can import any youtube video into the system and add chord annotations (i.e. create the chord timeline) using the web app. We already have an existing app written in Ruby and JS, but we want to restructure it, so that the visual design is completely modular. A strong MVC decoupling is required. However, a lot of the logic is reusable, which will help speed up the process and lighten the workload. We are also open to Node.js as the backend, if you offer to port the backend from Ruby. Below is the outline of the required features. User/Authentication capabilities: - Facebook login * Email/password login * Moderator/Admin/Owner accounts Editor capabilities: - Validate and embed a video from a youtube URL * Duplicate and edit an existing annotation (from the same or another user) - Let the user create a "chord pallette" and adding chords to timeline from that pallette - Synchronized scrubbing between the video and the chord timeline - Synchronized chord fingering display * Drag & drop for rearranging and resizing chords on the timeline * Sliding or similar animations for drag & drop interactions * Keyboard bindings for common operations (add chord, delete current chord, etc.) Player capabilities: - Same synchronized song + timeline + fingering display capabilities as the editor, minus the editing tools * Rating (e.g. 1-5 stars) * Comments * Moderator/Admin/Owner functionality: Delete comment, delete song User page: * Profile pic (from FB or custom) * Number of songs created * Average rating of songs * Links to songs created (attached is a sneak-peek of the player page mockup)
