Build an e-commerce website for chinese buyers, supporting multiplr english merchants

Build an e-commerce site for predominately english speaking merchants to self register , add, maintain and promote products that can be viewed and purchased by chinese mandarin speaking customers ( targetting China as a market). The website will be acting as a platform similar to [login to view URL], or another view would be an ebay for chinese buyers of western goods, but without the auction capability and with back-end merchant registration and product/e-commerce administration capabilities in english for these merchants. We have English speaking Chinese who can assist to turn English product details into Mandarin on the Chinese customer web view. We have experience adminstering Joomla/Virtuemart websites. However would welcome but not mandate Joomla based solutions as we really want to commence with the best application for the job at hand. Any recommendations as to best approach will be welcomed. Requirements for web site/platform include all functionality below: Merchant side: • Merchants can register for an account on the site. • Merchants can add basic product details and price information ( in Australian currency and in English) • Any recommendations for suitable Babelfish type function that can support to translation of text and web pages from English to Mandarin that minimises Mandarin speaking review and support would be welcomed • Merchants will be charged a percentage of sales by the host (us) and the site needs to track and report on this to both the merchant and host. • Merchants will be able to select and be charged for any special Chinese language support required to set up products. • Merchants will also be able to request and be charged for any other additional support services required ( to be specified, ie post sales support, consulting etc). • Merchants can view account details, order and payment status on line as well as receive email advise of new orders and order change status. • International post and shipping options will be available to the merchant and selectable and chargeable on line. Customer side: • Chinese Mandarin speaking customers will see a site similar to [login to view URL] ( but on a smaller scale) that will display merchants products in Mandarin language. • Chinese Mandarin speaking customers will be able to register, order and pay on line via credit card for merchants products. • Chinese customers will receive email confirmation of order and be able to track order fulfilment status on-line.
