Seeing your request, I think I can offer something that I have done. I have developed an OCR Javascript and another in PHP, for some cases can have within your app a view that has embedded a PHP page and is whoever does the conversion. I say this because let's recognition task can be very heavy for mobile. Or if you do not want to PHP, I can do that is made with Java, I would give a simple example and very functional for you to adapt to your needs. Stay tuned.
