Hi there, I am both designer and gamer, I can definitely relate to the gamer emotions you've listed! The trouble people might have with a logo like this is the complexity, especially when going in the small header of a website - the details get lost. I did a sketch mock up of how I interpret your description here: [login to view URL] it considers the logo text laid out in a tag - like a gamer tag - like an ear tag a cow has. It doesn't quite match up to the art styles you linked but to be honest - I don't think the variety of expressions you desire will be visible whatsoever in those kinds of styles. Big mouths and big eyes, colour and sharpness, overall boldness, things like that to help it out.
