Its interesting job indeed. I have worked on PIC boot loaders before using over the air (OTA) type update. I could assist you in getting this job done as well. But problem is, I don't have this PIC in stock and to develop such program, its always required to have the hardware locally. I can prepare it a crude version of test board and can order this PIC as well. Main problem is I need to pay a good amount to mouser (The only source that I can avail to get this device) and normally waiting period is 7-10 days. Yes, meanwhile I can make the test board ready as well as basic firmware part. So let me know if this is okay with you. Please note that the SD card will carry the firmware, but data will be saved as RAW format without any file system. Sector wise data will be written and then when you insert the SD card, it will migrate the firmware to the PIC. I will also give you a small application that you will need to use to write the application HEX file to it. Encryption will be simple using bit banging method.
