This initial project will be on going. The model of a single cylinder (Sketches are attached): A cylindrical composite shaped part. The composite cylinder (part) is made up of more than one body (each is cylindrical). Let's say we have a cylinder made up of different materials each layer is cylindrical shaped. The core layer is made up of material 1 with radius=r0. A piezo layer covers this material 1 or core cylinder. The piezo layer is a hollow cylinder surrounding the core and has a radius of r=r1 and of course inner radius r0. A third layer that cover the piezo. Again this layer is a hollow cylinder with both the piezo and core filling it. This layer has a radius r2 and of course an inner radius of r1. A final layer that is unbounded (with radius that goes to infinity) The problem: An incident elastic wave in the unbounded layer will be applied. This incident wave is harmonic with predefined frequency. I will be studying the interaction between more than one cylinder (2 or three) place in the unbounded layer both under the incident wave. The incident elastic wave will be generated with a defined amplitude and harmonic frequency. The piezoelectric layer will act either as an actuator or sensor. This can be added as a command snippet so I can have easy control. The unbounded layer will be a group of non reflective elements. (Also command snippet can be used) The analysis: Mostly mechanical measures. Measure radial stress, shear stress on curved surfaces (r-theta shear stresses) The analysis is in the cylindrical coordinate If piezo is used as a sensor calculating the voltage. Initial attempts: I have created two ANSYS project files representing my problem of study. The problem is a cylindrical shaped part consisting of three different bodies. One of these bodies is made up of Piezo material. Problem I am facing: Tasks: 1) Suggesting suitable non reflecting elements to be used for the unbounded layer and how to snippet this into the program 2) if you think APDL is better then suggest how 3) A working program that provides reasonable results
