I have a motherboard (Asus N61JA). I also have its schematic.
I do NOT have a case for this. This is purely motherboard only, with processor and memory (just enough for it to boot). This already turned on before, but I forgot how to do it.
I need someone to figure out how to turn this on without the power switch (i.e. what pins should I connect? What to use (jumper wire or resistor)?
Motherboard schematic is attached on this project. The switch is labelled "PWR_SW" on the schematic, and I think it's located on connector "J5601".
You cannot use a simple jumper because the standard behavior is to turn off the PS if he power button is continuously pressed. If you look at the timing diagram on the last page, they give you a pule width of >50ms that the switch must be on. You can simulate this with a timing relay or timer IC.
Sometime after the ME_AC_PRESENT signal rises, the PWR_SW# will rise as well. You then have to hold the signal low for >50ms and release. This should turn on the power.
Hope this helps.
