Data Analysis Using EVIEW into WORD - Econometric analysis and comments

1) Essay is meant to be an applied piece of work. Therefore it is 90% based on econometric analysis and comments; 2) There is no need to include literature review; 3) A tentative structure is: a) An introduction of about half page: it should contain a brief overview of the topic as well as some brief information about the main debate in the literature on it; b) An empirical framework section: in such a section you present the econometric model that you are going to use. Discuss the model, provide information about the estimator you are going to use, present all the econometric issues that are connected with the model you want to use. State clearly the main hypotheses that you want to test; c) Data description: you should provide information about your data, i.e. the source you used. In addition, you should give information about any transformation you make on your data and the reason for doing so. Present some descriptive statistics about them, i.e. summary statistics and correlation matrix, providing some brief comments. Notice that there is no need to list your data in an appendix at the end of your work; d) Presentation and discussion your results. As far as the first point is concerned, you can copy and paste Eviews estimation tables into your work. Discussion should be precise and outline the main findings in your analysis; 4) You can select one of the topics discussed during Data Analysis. Although you can also choose your own, my suggestion is that you pick up one of the that topics since you can benefit of the lectures and classes to have guidelines and suggestions; 5) The last class of Data Analysis course will provide you with the tools to access and collect data from the sources available in the Department. Nonetheless, I am going to post shortly some data samples for each topic. You are free to use these for your essay should you wish so. However, if you want to collect data for some specific countries/banks/firms/topic you will have to download them by yourself.
