C Programming - Manipulate a Text File and Provide Output

I have started a University project and won't be able to spend the time to get it finished on time. I have already created a C project to grab a text file, what needs to be done now is: PART 1 - Manipulate the text file so that an 2D array of strings is created where the file is broken up into lines, then tab spacings. - Use data in one section of the line (separated by tabs) checked for duplicates on another line. - These lines have end with an integer, add these integers for the duplicates found. Eg. 2012 ABC CAT 2 3422 FDW CAT 5 3212 QWE DOG 3 2341 FSD CAT 3 3242 RKD FISH 2 3312 DFQ FISH 7 Will return... CAT 10 DOG 3 FISH 9 -------------------------------------- PART 2 - Check these values on a list (another text file) - Add this into the return Eg. CAT Starts with C 10 DOG Mans best friend 3 FISH And Chips 9 This is pretty much what the task is about. I really hope it makes some sense.
