Cognitive Radio Network is one of the popular technologies which bring the maximum utilisation of radio wave resources. On the other hand VoIP is now already essential part of wireless communication. VoIP is cheap, easy and accessible if CRN can be efficiently implemented. VoIP will be much beneficial by two ways as this will help on reducing cost further and uses the wasted radio network.
This is still the interesting and new research topic as very few researchers are working on it. In CRN there is a constraint that Cognitive radio (secondary user) has certain limitation that licenced user (Primary User) should not be interfered by using the channel (spectrum) and in general condition this could be the main cause of degradation in quality of service on VoIP.
Hence, it is important to develop a perfect model that will minimise the interference by sensing the idle state of PU and transmit SU through error free channel. There are other factors like; selected codec, payloads, protocols etc. to increase the efficiency of VoIP.
In this project, several published model will be analysed and accordingly tested using the simulator Network Simulator 2 (NS2) implementing VoIP on CRN then validated the best proposed model by mathematical model.
Aims:
Develop model for implementing VoIP on CRN, which maximise the quality of service.
Objective:
Investigate different proposed model by previous research and development.
Simulate the implementation of VoIP on CRN over both single and multi-layer channels along with different payloads and codecs.
After concluding best experiment validate with mathematical model.
Methodology:
This project includes several steps on development, which are in adjacent to each other and can be switch to next after the completion of preceding one. It includes research, design, implement, testing and formulate phases.
Project relevance:
Both the main terms; Voice over IP and Cognitive Radio Network are related to computer Networking and requires wireless communication most of the aspects were covered in wireless networking units of course, and working project seeks more skills on simulator: Network Simulator 2.
