Redesign an existing Logo, plus design a new Logo for a subsidiary business

Hey there awesome designers out in the wild web!
I need 2 logos for 2 different business names. One is a subsidiary of the other (One business owns the other) and I need the design done in a way that they look like they are from same 'business group' or same 'family of businesses' (hope that makes sense)

BUT... Note the brief has changed a little.

Its important that the logo 'Icon' for each word looks a similar style, so they look like they are from the same family.

NOTE, its also Ok to have just 1 icon that is used in both business. In that case it doesnt have to have letters in it. It can, but it isn't a requirement.

Assetwise (Needs to be 1 word, but can be 2 colour)
Builders Insurance (Could be one word, or maybe 2 words with 'Builders' on top of 'Insurance'. Im mindful of not having the logo too long as it can limit its use and placement

NOTE: Im from New Zealand, so if you integrate a modern take on a Kiwi (its a bird) or the NZ Silver Fern (I prefer the Fern to the Kiwi), then that might be kind of cool. But its not a requirement.
To see what Im talking about, google images of 'NZ Silver Fern', and also 'NZ Kiwi logos'. But NOT the realistic versions or silhouettes, I prefer the modern stylised versions. In other words, not a silhouette of boring outline of a Kiwi or a fern leaf. I like the more modern and funky outlines and versions.

As a thought (But Im no a designer so it may not work) The fern could even be integrated into the full words or within one of the letters? Sort of reversed out of the letters? Its just a random thought.

(Plus in 4-6 weeks we expect to also do the same for 2 more logos for another 2 business names that are in different niches of the same sort of business. So the successful designer will be able to earn on that too)

Overview...
My existing company is called Assetwise and we are an insurance & mortgage brokerage. We sell insurances, mortgage finance & retirement savings. Including Life insurance and income protection, medical insurance, Critical illness cover and so forth. Plus we do house finance (mortgages) and retirement savings planning.
As a brokerage Assetwise is a generalist business, with a wide range of clients. Some are businesses, but most are mums & dads. The existing (Soon to be updated) website is www.assetwise.co.nz and as you will see, the style and colours of the logo need refreshing and updating.

The new business name is Builders Insurance. It is similar to Assetwise, but it is specializes in Builders. So it targets owners of Building companies and construction businesses. The domain will be www.businesinsurance.co.nz but I dont have a website for it yet so you wont find anything there :)

With the new logos Id also like an 'Icon' or symbol logo that I can use with it. Either symbolic or a stylized version of the business letters. AW and BI
However the logo of the words Assetwise & BuildersInsurance need to be able to be used without the stylised icon as well.

The icon doesnt need to use both letters, it could use just A or B, or AW, Bi, or even just 1 icon design that I use the same icon for both business names.

Bit I dont want the icon for Business Insurance to show as iB. Some have done that and I dont like the letters the wrong was around.

The colours need to be able to be easily printed by digital printers, not just offset printing.

I like the idea of green & grey for the Assetwise logo, but Im open to ideas.

I DONTwant corny cartoon style or cliched icons. It needs to look cool but professional and give the impression of professional, trusted, but approachable businesses.

These will be used on our website and on letterheads and business cards.

    Somehow no-one has yet managed to hit the nail on the head. Most seem to be variations of everyone elses work.
    I need to pick a winner but havent found anything sticking out yet. And After these logos I'll have 2 more for the winner to create (and be paid for). So its worth the effort.

    I added some fern pictures that I like. And maybe we need some out of the box thinking. Not sure what? Maybe the fern as part of the lettering? Partly reversed out?

    But it doesnt need to be a fern. I just havent seen anything that really grabs me for both logos.

    Remember... it can be 1 icon used for both names. If

    If doing 2 icons, they need to look similar enough to be recognized as from the same group of businesses.
    If doing a Bi icon, make sure the B is before the i
    I think I like the options where the lettering in the main words Assetwise & Builders Insurance are modified slightly so they at least seem like a designer did them, rather than a standard looking font.
    And Please post into the main competition rather than sending as a message. Its too easy for those ones to get lost in the mix
